New Accessible Bench Installed on Parsons Street – Supporting Inclusive Active Travel!

Maynooth Access Group is delighted to announce the installation of a new accessible bench on Parsons Street, Maynooth! This project marks another step forward in enhancing the inclusivity and comfort of our #ActiveTravelNetwork.

A Special Thanks
This wonderful addition wouldn’t have been possible without the help and collaboration of:

  • Area Engineer Cyril Buggy
  • The local area crew
  • Councillor Tim Durkan

A heartfelt thank you to Kildare County Council for their sponsorship and continued support of accessible infrastructure. The bench was donated by Maynooth Access Group.

Thoughtfully Designed for All
The new bench has been designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind:

  • Age-friendly and inclusive design with armrests and back support to assist those with mobility impairments
  • Space either side to accommodate wheelchairs, rollators, or buggies
  • Made of recycled plastic, making it essentially maintenance free

More Than Just a Seat
Accessible seating isn’t just a comfort – it’s a community connector. It supports social interaction, promotes inclusivity, and helps create welcoming public spaces where everyone can feel at home.

Let’s continue working together to create a town

that’s more walkable, inclusive, and connected for everyone!
