Kare Enhances Inclusive Play for Service Users with Donation of Inclusive Toys from CKAN

Kare, a dedicated organisation providing community-based supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities across Kildare, Offaly, and Wicklow, continues to make a significant impact in these communities. Their services span a wide range of support programs designed to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting inclusion and personal growth through tailored care and engagement.

In May 2024, Kare’s commitment to inclusivity was further highlighted when they welcomed members of the Maynooth Access Group and the Newbridge Disability Access Group for a special visit. These two groups, passionate about improving accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities, collaborated on an important initiative to benefit Kare’s service users.

During their visit to Kare’s Co. Kildare centre, they presented a selection of inclusive toys designed to cater to children of all abilities. These toys, which promote diversity and inclusivity, were inspired by Maynooth’s Our World toy resource—a collection of play items that reflect a variety of abilities, ethnicities, and backgrounds, ensuring that all children can see themselves and their peers represented in their playtime experiences.

The donation was made possible through the generous sponsorship of CKAN, an organisation committed to supporting inclusive initiatives. By providing these toys, Kare is helping to create a more inclusive environment where children and adults with intellectual disabilities can engage in meaningful, accessible play, fostering both social development and personal expression.
